<p>Hosting August DC Food Blogger Happy Hour at a <a href="https://esenciaspanamenas.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Panamanian Restaurant</strong> </a>was one of the sweetest welcomes I could have asked for.</p>
<p>Yup, I&#8217;m staying in DC! I know I won&#8217;t find most of back home dishes around the streets, perhaps at some Caribbean food joints or South American restaurant. That&#8217;s why I&#8217;m very thankful to have Yadira&#8217;s restaurant around, just a few Metro stops away from me!</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-3654" src="https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/panamanian-restaurant-dc.jpg" alt="panamanian restaurant dc" width="446" height="335" srcset="https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/panamanian-restaurant-dc.jpg 4000w, https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/panamanian-restaurant-dc-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/panamanian-restaurant-dc-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/panamanian-restaurant-dc-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/panamanian-restaurant-dc-120x90.jpg 120w" sizes="(max-width: 446px) 100vw, 446px" /></p>
<p>Are you familiar with the Georgia Avenue/Petworth area? If you aren&#8217;t, this is a great moment, besides this Panamanian food restaurant I&#8217;m also curious to try a few other spots around the area.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-3646" src="https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/DC-Food-Blogger-Friends.jpg" alt="DC Food Blogger Friends" width="291" height="340" srcset="https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/DC-Food-Blogger-Friends.jpg 3000w, https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/DC-Food-Blogger-Friends-257x300.jpg 257w, https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/DC-Food-Blogger-Friends-768x897.jpg 768w, https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/DC-Food-Blogger-Friends-876x1024.jpg 876w, https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/DC-Food-Blogger-Friends-77x90.jpg 77w" sizes="(max-width: 291px) 100vw, 291px" /></p>
<p>It&#8217;s a very humble and cozy restaurant. Their service staff is super friendly and helpful.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-3652" src="https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/panamanian-yuca-al-mojo-dc.jpg" alt="panamanian yuca al mojo dc" width="287" height="383" srcset="https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/panamanian-yuca-al-mojo-dc.jpg 3000w, https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/panamanian-yuca-al-mojo-dc-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/panamanian-yuca-al-mojo-dc-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/panamanian-yuca-al-mojo-dc-68x90.jpg 68w" sizes="(max-width: 287px) 100vw, 287px" /></p>
<p>I wasn&#8217;t able to try many dishes from the menu because the portions are very generous. An appetizer and an entree between two people will be more than enough.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-3651" src="https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Panamanian-Restaurant-Washington-DC-Torrejitas.jpg" alt="Panamanian Restaurant Washington DC - Torrejitas" width="352" height="377" srcset="https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Panamanian-Restaurant-Washington-DC-Torrejitas.jpg 2160w, https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Panamanian-Restaurant-Washington-DC-Torrejitas-281x300.jpg 281w, https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Panamanian-Restaurant-Washington-DC-Torrejitas-768x821.jpg 768w, https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Panamanian-Restaurant-Washington-DC-Torrejitas-958x1024.jpg 958w, https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Panamanian-Restaurant-Washington-DC-Torrejitas-84x90.jpg 84w" sizes="(max-width: 352px) 100vw, 352px" /></p>
<p><strong>Dishes I recommend for sharing:</strong></p>
<p>Cod Fritters (bacalao), mild with hot sauce on the side (the aioli is pretty good with it too)<br />
Carimañolas (cassava empanada stuffed with veg and meaty options)<br />
Arroz con Pollo<br />
Fried Fish<br />
Side of fried sweet plantains<br />
Shrimp Ceviche</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-3647" src="https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/DC-Food-Blogger-Happy-Hour-July.jpg" alt="DC Food Blogger Happy Hour July" width="329" height="438" srcset="https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/DC-Food-Blogger-Happy-Hour-July.jpg 3000w, https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/DC-Food-Blogger-Happy-Hour-July-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/DC-Food-Blogger-Happy-Hour-July-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://www.cocinerita.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/DC-Food-Blogger-Happy-Hour-July-68x90.jpg 68w" sizes="(max-width: 329px) 100vw, 329px" /></p>
<p>During the Happy Hour many folks tried Chichita Panameña, Sangría, Hibiscus Martini, and some other non-alcoholic natural drinks.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m looking forward to trying their Saturday Fritangas day (Panamanian Breakfast, the fried foods). Also, Yadira&#8217;s tamales. That&#8217;s a dish that requires a lot of work, so it&#8217;d be nice to have a place I can get tamales to bring home. How cool is it that she also has a vegetarian version of tamales?! I&#8217;m so excited to try her place again.</p>
